Find a picture of yourself when you were a kid. Place it next to a recent picture of yourself. Notice a difference? Yes, you are now grown up! You are older. You no longer look the same way you did when you were 2, 5, 16, and so on. You grew.

As you grew physically, no one around you was trippin off your physical growth. Why is it that people start trippin on you when you grow professionally, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally? Why is it that people make you feel bad about your growth and maturity in those areas? I don’t have all the answers, but I do have a few guesses:

– Maybe they don’t understand the why or how such a great change in you has come. Please know that everyone is NOT going to understand your growth. It’s not meant for them to understand.

– Maybe the very area you are growing and maturing in is messing with their own insecurities. This is not your issue. Beware of people who try to put their own insecurities off on you. Don’t allow them to stunt your growth! Instead, love them and encourage them.

– Maybe for their own selfish reasons they don’t want to see you grow. Again not your problem! Keep pushing towards your destiny!

– Maybe they fear that your growth is going to create a wedge between you and them, so they prepare themselves by creating distance. Sometimes this can be unconscious. Instead of drawing closer to you and supporting you during your growing process, they create scenes in their heads giving them ammunition to start pulling away from you.

I really do not know or understand why, but I do know this: As God take you from level to level, some folks will not go with you. They are not meant to. Everyone is not going to understand why things are changing they way they are for you. Why there is this sudden growth within you. You may not understand it yourself! STOP apologizing for what God is doing in your life. Don’t let the talk and actions of others hinder you from growing and going in the direction God is taking you.

Jeremiah 29:11 says: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (NIV)

Your growth/journey will get uncomfortable. People are going to talk about you. Folks you love will fall off or become distant from you. But God’s word says He has a plan for you! He will prosper you! He will give you a hope and a future! He will not harm you! Your attacks is the preparation that is needed to take you where God wants you to go. To grow you. To strengthen you.

So the next time someone attacks you on your growth and change, don’t apologize! Be unapologetic about the growth, work, and direction God is giving you.

Welcome pic

Look who’s baaaaccckkk!!! New and improved! This has been a long time coming. For those of you, who have subscribed to the blog, THANK YOU! I started this blog a couple of years ago, and stopped blogging shortly after due to starting grad school. The pressures of studying, forced me to stopped blogging. Looking back, I now can see why a break was much needed. In the past 3 years, I earned my Master’s degree, said goodbye to Corporate America, and I am now pursuing my passion. Most importantly, I grew closer to God, and went through a journey of healing.

Through this process, the Lord has placed messages on my heart to share with women. The purpose is to empower and inspire all women. There will be something I feel all women can relate to on this blog. I want women to feel encouraged, empowered, and inspired. Lastly, I want women to embrace their perfect imperfections, and love all the things that make you . . . YOU!!
